Idea Studio BKK

Dana has been making independent films since the 1990s. His interest in visual storytelling began in high school through photography and video before continuing at university, where he spent much of his time making skate films and documenting life as a bicycle messenger in Boston.

Although filmmaking was always a part of his life, it wasn’t until the late 2000s that he began approaching it as a serious creative pursuit, planning and producing longer, more ambitious projects.

After relocating to Thailand full-time in 2013, Dana founded Idea Studio BKK as a home for his documentary and adventure filmmaking. Soon after, he met his wife, Jib, who became both his creative partner and frequent collaborator. Together they have produced a range of films, many of them exploring overlooked stories from Thailand, its people, its culture, and its history.

Today, Idea Studio BKK continues to document real-world stories, with projects spanning documentary filmmaking, motorcycle travel, outdoor adventure, and the people and places that often go unnoticed.
